War-Era Movie Night! Swing Shift

One of my all-time, favorite, "comfort food" movies is "Swing Shift" (1984) with Goldie Hawn, Christine Lahti, Kurt Russell, Fred Ward, and Ed Harris. Holly Hunter is in this too before she hit the big time. She plays one of Kay's (Goldie) friends/co-workers. I love the clothing, especially the ladies' uniforms at the war plant. I also love Kay's home decor. So cute!

One of the main draws of this film is the chemistry between Kurt and Goldie. Apparently, they moved in together after filming was complete and have remained a couple ever since. Anyway, the attraction between Kay and Lucky is smoldering and bittersweet. This element covers the whole war time romance taboo very well.

Now, some reviewers have said this movie is bad but I think it is very enthralling and quite entertaining. I think watching this in bed on a lazy hot day or winter afternoon would be fun. Just make some mac-n-cheese or pop some popcorn and enjoy.

So, what are your favorite war-era/period films?
