Hair Product Inventory

Miss You by Hitmane
Here it is - my current Hair Inventory. Please bear with me - it's very long and I will only be briefly explaining how the product works for me (at this moment in time). Of course, I don't use every product every day or every week - I do try, not to be a product junkie so, even if a product doesn't work for me I will eventually use it up - even if that means using a shampoo for my brushes or as a body wash etc.

For the sake of this review, I kept some product empties to review. I've done my best to keep it kinda short and at times note potential ingredients that may cause concern. Many of the products here are in the product graveyard as I bought them at a time when I decided to disregard ingredients and just base my purchases on claims or recommendations which ultimately has not worked out favourably and I don't really like or use them. Whilst reviewing these products I've noticed that I could squeeze a few more products in my weekly routine, I really do care about ingredients, scents and really need a proper hair oil (that does not contain silicone or soya lectin). I've also realised that I naturally end up finishing all the "natural" products I've bought over the years hence, I've been stuck with plenty of products I'm just not too fond of.

However, I don't like wasting things - I'll be using what I can or giving it to family/friends that it may work for. Also, I'd like to say that I don't just get fussy with ingredients just for the sake as I've noticed products that use mineral oil, silicones, propylene glycol etc. don't often work well for me - there are exceptions in which case I will give the credit even if I don't like what they consist of or smell like. Lastly, to make it easier I decided to highlight with this simple:

KEY
I like - Green
I don't like - Red
It's Ok - Yellow
I haven't made my mind up yet - Blue

I've also included prices for what I can remember. Most if not all the items I have here have been bought on offer and with some sort of discount or deal so use prices as a guideline.

Creme of Nature - Red Clover & Aloe - Soothing Shampoo: Smells very nice and cleans well without stripping my hair too much. I bought this after the pleasant shop assistant suggested it to me as I aimlessly wandered the store ... Well-well, it looks like she knows her customers right as I repurchased it and since then, have found it continually out of stock in the bigger size (seen here). It does soothe an itchy scalp and aids in my hair being easier to detangle. Plus it's not a bad price! £4.49

Blue Shampoo for Young and Sensitive Scalps - My mother gave this to me - thanks :)  - I believe it's from some herbal clinic that she goes to - so I don't think its widely available. I've been using this recently instead of the Creme of Nature Shampoo and honestly, it helped soothe my itchy scalp immediately and I don't think my scalp is as dry and flaky *yeah!*. However, when I apply this to my wet hair it really sticks and clumps my hair together forming very curly hair that I feel puts it in a fragile position. It's certainly not a shampoo that I'd ever dream to detangle with and as soon as I put it on - I immediately want to wash it out. Yet, I let it sink for a little while and the get my wish. My hair seems to be doing well with it. Gifted

Giovanni Smooth as Silk Deep Moisture Shampoo & Conditioner: I came across a one-time good deal in TKMAXX with the price (around £10 each). I really just wanted the conditioner but, felt it was too much of a good deal to let the shampoo slide. Both products work nicely on my hair. I love the big pump bottles and I'll, most likely reuse them for other products (conditioners/shower wash etc.) when they're finished - as who wants to fuss around the opening and closing caps? - not this diva. Their good but, I don't think I'd buy them full price. RRP £23.00
Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Moisture: Smells gorgeous. It's an alright conditioner but, like the Reconstructor I have to use a lot (see below). £3.00
Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Reconstructor: I remember using this near the beginning of my hair journey and it completely not working for me. I decided to revisit it when it was on offer as I really do like the scent and it worked nicely. The only problem is that for me I have to use a lot of this conditioner to gain some moisture and after 2-3 uses its pretty much done. Meh, its alright but, not cost effective. £3.00
Pantene Repair & Protect Conditioner: Another blast from the past. I remember the deep conditioner tub really working on my hair to smooth out knots (and I had found it in the £1 shop!). However, although this smells really nice (fruity), moisturises and smooth my hair OK - its not something I'm eager to repurchase. £4.00
Herbal Essence Moisturising Conditioner: I preferred the old formula and the old bottles. My fav was a blackberry mango creation which was and still is the best conditioner I've tried from their line (and it smelt really-really good). Every now and then I try a HE conditioner in hopes that they've brought it back in new garb but, no-no, they haven't. Its OK not very moisturising for me - I usually dump more than needed on my hair in the hope to use it up quicker. £2.00

Creme Of Nature Mango & Shea Butter Ultra Moisturising Conditioner: Has a yummy fruity smell like the fruit salad sweet mixed with a smidgen of lemon (unique ending). It didn't do anything for my hair, the more I applied the more my hair actually seemed drier. I really just don't like it and I can't wait to put this in recycling! Contains Amodemethicone (5th) ingredient + another "cone", and its crap. £3.99.
Pantene Pro-V Smooth & Sleek Conditioner: Has a fruity juicy smell that's nice. Gives me alright moisture. I finished it,  so I'd say I like it more than Repair and Protect (?), but, I'm still not really a fan. £3.99
L'Oreal Elvie Nourishing Leave In: Smells like a posh hand soap/candle - a light vetiver which is very nice indeed and it lingers. A very watery cream that takes a double helping to begin to soften my hair when dry - when it does sink it  - my hair does separate nicely and feels nicely moisturised and resilient/fortified/strengthened. Having such a watery product in a squeeze tube though is cumbersome and annoying - I think a pump would be better.  I bought this on a whim when it was on offer for like half the price honestly, it surprised me. Note, from a brief look it does contain silicone (Admondimethicone). £6.99
Giovanni Direct Leave-In Weightless Conditioner: This is my second purchase. It's alright - not something I will revisit again but, who knows I thought that last time. I was drawn to this because it's all natural and has a light nice scent and is not too expensive and is in the natural hair care "good" ingredient market. It moisturises nicely and smells alright though it does has an acrid after note (like sour lemons). £7.99

Mega Growth Moisture Lotion: Not the nicest smelling hair lotion I've come across - it just smells kinda sweet with a medicinal/chemical and oil scent which is fine but meh. It does moisturise but, takes a while to seep into my hair and at times can feel like there's a bit of a film over it. Depending on how much I use - this can cause my hair to attract a lot of dust and feel muggy quickly so I'd recommend concentrating it on your ends and using a tiny drop as it doesn't detangle well at all especially upon initial application. £4.29
Aunt Jackie's Quench Moisture Intensive Leave-in Conditioner: This is perhaps my 3rd or 4th bottle. It really moisturises my hair nicely, smells good and does not leave my hair greasy or with a film. The texture is on the watery side which I'm not very fond of but, using this on soaking wet hair on wash day works for me as the product gets really foamy and creamy. £3.99
Taliah Waajid Protective Mist Bodifier: Smells beautiful like sparkling coconut! It's a light moisturiser that I definitely need to use more often, according to the directions at least three times a week. At times I feel like it lacks moisture and luster for my hair but, perhaps its because I didn't use it so often and I wouldn't recommend it for detangling. £4.99
Hawaiin Silky Miracle Worker 14-in-1: Not filled with the best ingredients and doesn't smell too great either (like Calpol). However, it does moisturise. The Activator is super thick (which I like) and it detangles my hair well and separates rather than defines my curls. I like it in spite of itself. £5.99
Redken Extreme Anti- Snap Anti-Breakage Leave-in Treatment: Has no/poor slip and takes a while and a lot of smoothing to sink in. It's very watery, with a fresh cream watery scent (that's alright). Contains silicones and I'm not sure if it makes any difference. Currently, it feels like an expensive waste of time. £12.99
Aunt Jackies  Knot On My watch Instant Detangler: Works best on my dry hair - that's when its moisturising and detangling abilities shine. Very watery and smells light a mixture of fruits (peach being the main one) and cream which is pleasant. Great for separating strands rather than moisturising at first. Not really a fav. £3.99
Mango & Lime natural Coconut Moisturising Hair Lotion: Good for detangling/separating my hair strands - doesn't feel particularly moisturising though, the scent is tropical but, more blackberry (must be the Hibiscus Flower) with mild coconut sent. I doubt I'll revisit this again.  £6.99 (I think?)
ORS Olive Oil Replenishing Conditioner: I wanted something with protein and I  had remembered this has some even though last time I used it had been a disaster. Fast forward 5-6 years and it's actually alright for me now. It  doesn't feel extremely moisturising or penetrative (detangling) but, my hair does feel fortified after using it - I shall continue testing it ... £3.69
Tressemme Hydrating Mist (no silicones): Has a sweet almost caramelised light coconut scent. It's basically scented water - no moisture for my hair whatsoever and is a tad sticky. A nice smelling mistake. £6.05 (I did not buy it at this price - bought it when it was first released at a good offer - I would say to avoid this if you have dry hair)
Moroccan Argan Oil Leave-in Remi Hair Care: Obviously, I didn't read the bottle - this is marketed for hair weave/extensions (lol). Needless to say, it didn't work for me. Just a basic water concoction with a nice smell and good spritz (I'll reuse the bottle). £2.29
Cantu Shea Butter Coconut Curling Cream: Sweet sparkling aroma. Does have a nice consistency (thick but not stodgy) but, unless I really smooth the product in it tends to just "sit" on my hair. Apparently, it claims to be all natural but the product has always not sat right with me... On further investigation when writing this I noticed - their No "sulfates, silicones, parabens or mineral oil" mean that they don't call their mineral oil ... mineral oil but, PETROLATUM (aka mineral oil). Deceptive! £5.99
III Sisters of Nature Spiral Pudding: Basically looks like Miss Jessies Curling Pudding thingy (the purple one) so much that they have to certify they are not on the label. Possible plagiarism aside, it sure does smell like a pudding! Its super thick and can weigh my hair down when dry. I'm not sure how it worked on wet hair (like directed) but, if I've forgotten it can't have been that great but since I've used a good amount I'll say its OK. £6.99 (?)
III Sisters of Nature Natural Lengthening Cream: Smells like those Dip Dab candies (yum). Again like the Spiral Pudding, I can't really remember how it worked but, I know I tried it. £6.99 (?)
Protective Mega Growth Hair & Scalp: Out of all 3 I've used and liked this product the most: its basically hair grease with a sweet candy fruit scent but, also a not so nice medicinal after smell. Not the greatest ingredients (Petrolatum being the 1st one). I won't be buying it again. Contains silicone too (Trimethicone) £4.49
Protective Mega Growth Anti-Breakage Strengthener: Smells like rancid oil and fruits. Every time I open it I'm shocked - I really can't stand the smell and it's such a shame because the product is super thick and has promising initial ingredients. Though it does contain DMDM Hydantoin, Dimethicone, Parabens etc. Out of the 3 - this product gives the most "moisture". It's very thick and nourishes even the really dry parts my hair but, I just can't take the smell because the scent lingers. £3.99
Protective Mega Growth Daily Leave-in Strengthener: This product wins for the best smell with no rude surprises but, looses at being a leave-in conditioner. Its light and doesn't provide any actual moisture/nourishing hydration - it only unlocks tangles. Again its filled with not so great ingredients and my personal foe Propylene Glycol is 2nd on the list. £3.99

Mega Growth Oil: Has a synthetic fruity scent that's not my type - somewhere between watermelon and fruity coca cola (?) - it doesn't smell bad so I can't complain. I try to use this twice every day - oiling the ends of my hair. It's been working well and if you can see I'm nearly halfway through it. I think this coupled with being gentle with my hair and regular dusting has aided in my hair growing out better in areas and not as much breakage as previously. It's NOT all natural (contains silicone). I had heard it was good so wanted to try it out but, I don't think its particularly nourishing. This won't be a repurchase. £4.69
Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse: Smells really nice (a cross between a sunny smell and baby powder). I use this on my skin and hair when I feel like I want this scent wafting around me for like 2 seconds (lol). I don't think its all natural (they say its mineral oil & silicone free - meh). It's not a staple for my hair but, I really wanted to try it and I have put in on my hair so that's why it's on the list. I love the spray feature and will reuse when finished for my own oil - I don't think I'd buy it again. £29.00
Activilong Natural Touch Pomade: A hair finisher (so basically a pomade) that is meant to bring shine and moisture without suffocating the scalp as it has no parabens, no vaseline, and no silicones. It seals and weighs down (a little) my hair ends together and smells really nice!  The only downside is that it does have little chunky/nodules in it that takes some time to warm up on my hand before I can smooth it into my hair. £5.29
ORS Jojoba Oil: Has a coconut and herbal scent which is nice but, I really hate these  ORS "Oils". Their not oils in the natural sense as isopropyl myristate is synthetic. This product basically does nothing but, smell alright. Complete crap for my dry hair. £4.49
Vatika Oil: Smells sweet and rustic, has an authentic consistency (hard when cold and an oil when warm) with pretty good ingredients although I'm not sure why Soy Lecithin is in it and I'm pretty sure it's not GMO-free (if we wanna go there). It works nicely to nourish and soften my hair. I buy it every now and then. £4.29
ORS Coconut Oil: They managed to make coconut oil smell off-putting. Same effect as the Jojoba Oil one - useless. £4.49 (I bought these two on a deal - I wish, I didn't)

Vatika Egg Protein Hair Mask: My not-so-secret now hair weapon. Its a good price for such a big tub. It has a herbal spicy scent that I actually really like and semi-thick consistency. I've repurchased it countless times and whenever I see it on offer I snap it up! When I say that this stuff smooths and detangles my hair like butter ... I mean it. Ultimately, I think its one of the best hair masks/conditioners I've tried in the store. It's not the thickest (which is usually my preference) but, when it comes to my hair product staples/regulars - this is it. £5.99
Big Hair Deep Conditioning Hair Treatment: Smells very nice, very rich, thick and moisturising. Packed with great ingredients and from a UK  natural hair brand! Recently I've checked their website and it looks like they've redone their packaging and raised their price for this treatment to £20. I think that's a bit too steep. It made my hair feel nice when on but, it wasn't particularly amazing. £14.95
Crown PrideTucuma Curl Moisture Mask:
Smelt like creamy sweet butter that was ever so slightly rancid. Packed with great ingredients, from a UK natural hair brand and moisturised my hair nicely! Just like Big Hair, I've noticed the brand has raised their prices to £16.95 which is a shame because the product quantity hasn't increased. I liked it but, wouldn't repurchase although I'm interested in trying other products from their line. £14.95
As I Am Coconut Cowash: Smells nice, has a very runny consistency which is a tad messy. Seems to cleans ok but, I haven't used it for a long while as all my natural products have finished and most of the ones I'm left with have silicones etc. which this cleanser won't be able to wash out. I think I remember really liking it and then being blase so I'll say its OK. £9.99
Redken Smooth Lock Conditioner: Smells really nice and from my initial tests makes my hair feel nice. I bought this for when I decide to use heat on my hair but, I never do. This conditioner is really nice on its own but, does contain mineral oil (3rd ingredient). £9.99
Asli Amla Intensive Nourishment Hair Conditioner: *Updated* I really thought this was rubbish and I was so very close to tossing this out but since, committing to using up my stash I decided to soldier on ... Maybe its because I'm using fewer products now or maybe it always worked but, I never realised it because I used so much stuff at one time (?). Anyway, this has strong baby powder scent and really fortifies my hair - it doesn't provide slip or awesome moisture but my hair definitely feels stronger with this. I think I've begun to realise that a conditioner doesn't necessarily have to provide awesome slip to benefit my hair ...
  £6.99
Eco Styler Oliver Oil: The best gel to curl my coily/kinky/afro/wiry hair - it has great hold and really enhances the coil/curl of my hair without too much water and extra-extra fuss. However, the main negative is how it works with other products namely leave-in conditioners as it creates white cottage cheese balls *ahh!*.  Another negative is that it's really drying to my hair and I need to use a lot hence - why I have a supersize tub. £7.99 (?)
Aunt Jackie's Don't Shrink Curling Gel: I thought it would be gentler because it's labeled "flaxseed" but it's just like the Eco but weaker - meaning that I need to use even more for the same effect. Wouldn't buy again. £3.99
III Sisters Natural Curling Gelo: The best smelling of the bunch - sweet and very jelly. Feels silky but sits on my hair and I have to use a lot again.
Queen Helene Royal Curl Shaping Creme: Looks very gross lie a vat of stewed apples that have completely disintegrated into a brownish golden jelly mass but, smells sweet. If I recall I think it worked alright as I used it a couple of times. £4.49
Cantu Styling Custard: Has a fruity fresh scent, readable ingredients but, no hold whatsoever for me. £3.69
Jessicurl Spiralicious: Alright scent but, this product is too weak for me and shrinks without any definition. Instead of Spiralicious, it should be called Shrinkalicious ... £14.95

Jane Carter Wrap & Roll: Somehow I got it into my head that I would start doing roller sets ... Um, I haven't used this product enough to vouch for its setting abilities but, from my memory, it was very light, non-flaky and not drying. I'll update later when I attempt to do that style again. That's all I say for now ... £6.99
That's it! The only products I haven't included are 2 hair protectants but, since I don't straighten often/ever I'll save those for when I do. If you have any questions feel free to leave a comment and or email (I do try to keep up and check things).

Thanks for reading and I hope this is helpful!
Stay Blessed

:)
